Songs That Should Be On Your Workout Playlist [Vol. 2]

Radix – R.A.D.I.X.

If you’ve been a reader for a while you may recognize this song. It’s not recent but it was one of our Bring It Back features a little over a year ago. This song dates back to 2006 and Radix is the New England duo of Quite Nyce and Seek who met in college and proceeded to make some dope hip hop music together. This song is just the perfect example of a boom bap type of song. It’s contains hard hitting drums which is a must for a good workout tune along with a really banging chorus line along with some tough verses. This song is an underground gem in my opinion and even your local hip hop head who says he knows it all while be scratching his head as to how he missed this duo.

The Left – Chokehold f. Paradime

When I was thinking of good artists for a workout playlist, the first person that came to mind was Apollo Brown. I’d easily say that he has the hardest hitting drums in the hip hop game today and he’s often got amazing soul samples along with the drums, although many will say that his work gets repetitive sounding. I’d agree to an extent but his best work has to be on his album Gasmask with Journalist 103 and DJ Soko which I regard as a hip hop classic. I only wanted to choose one song from The Left to keep things diverse and I can’t really breakdown a process for my selection because there was no process but this one just spoke to me the most. This one has that signature Apollo Brown sound it’s one of his better tracks. It’ll have your head bopping and your muscles rocking
