From reading the title, two separate songs popped into my head. The song of the same name from Theophilus London and The Roots “Birthday Girl” which featured Patrick Stump. As far as Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy on a track like this, I can imagine it sounding like “Birthday Girl”; the probability of a cheesy hook being high. So instead of me simply propagating, let’s hear for myself. Robert Glasper blesses the track with his signature jazzy inflection and a traditionalist, progressing piano melody. The hook is in fact a little cheesy but it works. That’s not nearly the entire breakdown of this awesome track, it’s simply a small tidbit, you have to listen for yourself to get the entire instating piece. This is off Black Radio 2 which will be out on October 29th.
