Hip-Hop & R&B Sales For 10/15/13 – 10/22/13

get home safely 2

This past week in album releases was fairly quiet, with Mary J. Blige being the only major label urban release (Geffen) with her Christmas album A Mary Christmas debuting at 23 with just under 12.5k albums sold. Dom Kennedy really showed out this week, selling 13,778 of his ‘debut retail’ album Get Home Safely. If you do not know the story, Dom Kennedy literally went to Best Buy and got his album into their stores without any distribution deal. The albums have sold so well that they put in another order for them (mine was put on back-order last week), and Best Buy as well as other retailers are hoping to get physical copies of Dom Kennedy’s From The Westside With Love, II in their stores too. Proud of Dom & the OpM team.
