TDE started their strong 2014 campaign with the release of Isaiah Rashad‘s debut project Cilvia Demo. The 14 song project definitely sounds like a real demo, as you can still hear some amateur static throughout the project that was released for retail purchase. When Isaiah first signed, a lot of people wrote him off as a Kendrick clone, but with this demo, Isaiah proved he’s much more than that. On the project’s outro, Isiah holds his own with Jay Rock & ScHoolboy Q jumping on his ‘Shot You Down’. If a demo can become one of the better rap releases of the year, Isaiah’s future should be very scary to think about.

21. Tory Lanez – Chix Tape 2

chix tape 2

Tory Lanez should have been on many people’s radar for quite a few years, but in 2014 Tory completely showed out, releasing two stellar projects and getting writing credits and features on some major mainstream albums. His first project of 2014 – Chix Tape 2 – was the second full R&B project he’s released in his career. Tory riffed through a ton of legendary R&B tracks throughout the project, whipping and flipping the tracks into brand new versions that sound nothing like the original versions. Lets be honest: anybody that can flip the All That theme song into a ram jam deserves a lot of money.
