Trixx’s Top 25 Hip Hop Albums Of 2014

1. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib – Pinata

NUMBER 1! It’s Gibbs and Madlib taking the one spot with their album Pinata. Madlib has been my favorite producer for awhile now. The shit he does with samples is so original and unique to me. And of course, he’s one hell of a digger. I knew this collaboration album would be amazing ever since I heard “Thuggin'” about 2 yeas before this album dropped. That song’s a modern day classic to me. My problem with Gibbs as always been the production and he’s also been pretty inconsistent on all his projects. This album solved both of those. There weren’t just three really good songs and the rest were meh, no. This album from the opening eery, drug inspired sample to the posse cut outro, the album’s gripping. It’s not Madvillain but it’s a spectacular album in its own right.
