Drake surprised us all by dropping his new project If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late on iTunes at 10PM Thursday night. The numbers are in for the first week sales & streams (which are really only for four days). Of course, he debuted #1 by selling 497,602 copies first week, 541k with streams included according to the always reliable source HDD.
Billboard is also reporting the album broke Spotify records this past weekend. The album became available on the streaming service on Friday morning, and the album was streamed 17.8M times in that time, which is a record for most streams in an entire week on Spotify. On Saturday alone, the album was streamed 6.8M times. Drake broke the record of 15.8M streams, which he held with his last album Nothing Was The Same. Keep in mind, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late did this in 72 hours, not a full week.
