Janet Jackson Teams Up With BMG For New Album Releasing Fall 2015

After announcing her comeback a few weeks ago, Janet Jackson is back with more news today regarding her new album. Janet has teamed her Rhythm Nation imprint with BMG in a “artist services deal” to release her new album this fall, according to her own press release. This will be the first time Janet has not released something inside the major label system, and it just goes to show how much the music industry has changed.

The partnership with BMG makes Janet Jackson the biggest worldwide superstar yet to quit the traditional record label system for a so-called artist services deal, designed to put artists in the driving seat. Unlike a traditional record deal, under an artist services deal the artist retains ownership of their recordings and full oversight of all costs and revenues.
