Two of R&B’s finest are about to get some more plaques added to their compound. In December, Chris Brown released his latest album Royalty, while Jeremih released his long awaited Late Nights: The Album. While both albums felt under-promoted and first week sales seemed low for both artists, both albums have been certified gold by the RIAA. Both albums are benefitting from the RIAA’s new certification standards, which counts 1,500 streams, ten single sales, or one album sale as one unit shipped. If you remember, Late Nights only sold 10,000 pure copies first week, but ‘Mih’s singles are going out of this world. Breezy’s album sold 162,000 pure albums in it’s first week and as of February was up to 360,000 pure album sales, so his certification does not come as a surprise. Congrats to both camps.
