This Week’s Number One Album is the Lowest Selling in History

We all know that the music industry is completely transforming. In my lifetime, the industry has gone from a CD based to digital based and now we are about to full on hit the streaming era. Streaming has seen rises in revenue and users consistently over the years and that doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon. This past week was a huge smack in the face to the traditional industry, as this week’s number one album was the lowest selling album in history. Rihanna‘s ANTI climbed back to #1 by selling 17,000 copies this week (54,000 under the SPS formula). It goes to show you that streaming is here to stay, while sales might be getting all the way out of the paint. Only time will tell, but this is something to note and keep in your mind.
