It was well known in the mid-2000s that Lil Wayne & JAY Z were discussing Wanye coming over to Roc-A-Fella, but we now have more details on the situation. In an interview with DJ Drama up at Shade 45, Wayne revealed the story of meeting up with Hov at the 40/40 club (in the daytime) with the likes of Derek Jeter and Denzel Washington. Wayne said he felt out of place, but Hov probably made him feel even more uncomfortable after making his offer to Wayne. Wayne said that Hov offered him $175,000 to join Roc-A-Fella and leave Cash Money Records. Keep in mind, Wayne was already five solo albums deep and just released his critically acclaimed Tha Carter II album.
Wayne said that his two bottom gold teeth were worth $175,000 and he obviously declined. He said they both laugh about that to this day, but it appears as if Wayne is working with Hov on a business level as Wayne revealed ‘he signed a deal with Hov’ last year, where he became a part-owner of TIDAL.
