Drake’s been taking over the billboard game lately and I’m not talking about the publication that also tracks music industry success with their charts. He’s been working with actual billboards, buying one for Rihanna and now he bought one for he and Kanye.
Drake and Kanye live in the same Calabasas neighborhood and they are neighbors, which may have been what sparked this potential collaboration album. Now they add some fuel to the fire with a billboard that reads “Calabasas is the new Abu Dhabi”. To take some stabs at the meaning of the billboard, Abu Dhabi is a city an hour or so outside the mammoth city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi is a very ritzy area, just as Calabasas is, as Calabasas sits outside the city of Los Angeles. Also included on the billboard are two logos at the bottom; it’s the OVO owl and the GOOD Music logo. The billboard’s purposely ambiguous but there has to be some meaning and reason behind it right? Maybe Kanye’s allotted time to speak at the MTV VMA awards tonight will shed some light on it?
Well there was also some guy on Instagram who said he talked to Kanye for 45 minutes following his show in Indianapolis and he says Kanye told him that he and Drake have completed 11 tracks.
