Forbes Releases 2016 Hip-Hop Cash Kings List

For the past ten years, Forbes has released their hip-hop cash kings list. The list highlights the highest paid rap artists of the last calendar year. This year’s tracking period was June 1, 2015 through June 1, 2016. These numbers come from all revenue streams and does not include taxes or fees taken out.

At the top of the list is some familiar names – Diddy, JAY Z, Dr. Dre, & Drake. Puff tops the list for the second year in a row thanks to Ciroc and other non-music ventures. Some new entries on the list this year are ASAP Rocky – making his debut – and Swizz Beatz making a return after missing the list last year. It is super dope to see DJ Khaled at #12 – lord knows he deserves what he has coming for him.

Other interesting additions to the list are J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, & Ludacris – all artists who did not release any high-profile albums or have newly released hit records during that timeframe. That’s a testament to their brand power and great other investments. Obviously, people like Dr. Dre, Diddy, Birdman, Eminem, & Rick Ross make money through their respective record companies but their money from other ventures are coming in a lot stronger these days.
