Talib Kweli‘s essentially an elder statesman in hip hop nowadays but you can always count on Talib to chime in on social issues. Usually he voices himself of Twitter but when the subject matter’s strong enough, he may take it right to the studio and make a song about it. The latter is what he did here on this new track “She’s My Hero” about 14-year-old girl Bresha Meadows whose facing a lengthy prison sentence for shooting and killing her abusive father. It’s a unique story but this much more about domestic abuse and mental health than it is about murder. Check out the song below.
