J. Cole is a huge fan of the surprise album. He did it on his last two albums and after hearing his manager Ibrahim Hamad talk on ItsTheReal’s podcast, I knew this next one was going to be announced a week ahead of time at the very most.
First today J. Cole cleared his Instagram and added a new profile picture to both that account and his Twitter. It was a just a shade of purple and a few hours later, Cole tweeted about a New York event in just a few hours. It seemed like a fans only show but what it turned out to be was a fans only listening party.
NYC. Come through. Couple hours from now. First come first serve. pic.twitter.com/Z71I9iRnnu

He announced at the venue that the album would be dropping this Friday on April 20th and he also just confirmed it on Twitter. We’ve also got a snippet from someone who snuck their phone in down below.
