I remember it was about a month ago I was scrolling through Apple Music’s few local playlists they’d been curating to highlight mainly new artists burgeoning from the biggest cities in rap. I pride myself on being way before the curve but I discovered a few gems off those playlists GRIP was one of them. I heard “These Eyes” and immediately knew I needed to hear more and I delved into the lone album he’s got. The Atlanta rapper immediately just reminded me of J.I.D, just because of their from the same city doing a similar, conscious sound that most of the trap capital isn’t doing. Really though, GRIP‘s totally his own artist, he’s just potentially the city’s next awesome storyteller.
He hasn’t released new music since his 2017 album PORCH but he did just put out the new visuals to this cut “Culdesac” off the album. Peep that up above.
