It has been a long time coming for Michael O. We covered Michael way back in 2013 but it has been a minute since we’ve heard from him. The LA based artist earned praise after finishing second on NBC’s ‘The Sing Off’ in 2011 and released his debut EP shortly after. He starred in Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015 and was featured on the award winning soundtrack. The music really started picking back up in 2017 and he’s pivoted his sound towards Afrobeats. His new single ‘Umbrella’ is an infectious summer tune that can compete with some of the top acts in the genre.
