Atlanta based, Jersey native Babydraco dropped off a very smooth self-titled EP a few weeks back, and after running through it a few times, I found myself returning again and again to the lead track off of the 5-track collection. The tape kicks off with the thundering bass-heavy single “Raw” produced by FISH, who is undoubtedly about to have a big year coming up.
The sub 2-minute song is a great energy setting song for the remainder of the EP, where Babydraco’s vocal delivery is smooth, confident, and laid-back, while FISH’s production comes in booming, with blown-out 808’s, pitched vocal samples, and a flute melody that feels both out of place but very necessary at the same time. “Raw” allows both artists to do what they’re best at, and it plays out like a finely executed pick and roll.
The self-titled EP is a great listen for the young Atlanta artist, but if we were to select one song you definitely need to check out, it would definitely be “Raw” and then you can go play it at your next house party and be the cool kid on the aux with the latest underground fire.
