As much as Fashionably Early has evolved into the non-genre specific platform that you see before you today, rap was always our first love. Now in 2023, still the biggest genre in the world outside of pop is rap. Thus the landscape is now very bloated and there’s such a scarcity of new rappers popping up that are not only great, but actually have potential to really stand out uniquely. And Philly rapper SheedTs is just that, a stand out. At just 18-years-old, Sheed is steps ahead of a lot of his contemporaries out of the gate. He could drop a cold flow on a sample-based, golden era type of beat, a jersey club beat or anything in between.
But it’s songs like “Rockin’ & Rollin’” that spill out all of the talent and potential that’s sitting in front of us. You catch those glimpses of how Sheed’s really got a singing voice, and can input melodic cadences into his verses. Coupled with an absolutely perfect beat drop midway through the first verse that’s impossible to not to make a stank face to.
He’s got the sound, I’m convinced of that and I’m far from the only one. Without racking up any crazy numbers, Sheed caught the A&R buzz which led to him recently inking pen to paper with Great Day Records, the recently launched label from Baroline Diaz (DaBaby, Moneybagg Yo etc.) in partnership with Todd Moscowitz’s Santa Anna and Alamo Records.
