In just Cosmo Bayes’ freshman year at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, he’s been able to capture nostalgia, over-honesty, and a special type of candidness only available to artists that foster it. “On Your Way”- Cosmo’s second single yearns over what was and reflects on what is, a storyline often depicted in folk-y singer songwriter genres, but hard to make right. Cosmo does it right.
Sonically similar to Big Thief, slimdan, with notes of Pinegrove, Cosmo delivers not only a strong single in likeness to his comparisons, but follows through with his unique take in those artists’ lanes. Perhaps the best of what “On Your Way” has to offer is its minimalism in production juxtaposed with its concentrated, candid lyricism- a trope that once nailed down, offers realms of auditory possibilities.
Cosmo offers an invitation to his world, and invites you to join him at the table to discuss similar life experiences in “On Your Way”.
