Although we’ve been covering all the newcomers from these scenes for what feels like forever, we can’t get enough of this resurgence of shoegaze leaning indie rock music. A new band on our radar is Bad Self Portraits, an Omaha based band that formed in 2017, but the set only has a handful of records out on DSPs. Their new single “All Bark, No Bite” instantly struck me as soon as I pressed play. The fuzzy, layered guitars and the lead vocalist’s cozy vocal performance really make this one perfect for any fall playlist you have. The band’s debut album I Think I’m Going to Hell is releasing exclusively on vinyl on 8/26, but you can catch it online everywhere on 9/19, which I think is a badass release strategy in 2025.
