Oliver Malcolm‘s name has been thrown around industry circles for a bit now, without much of his own music ever really being online. The Swedish born, UK raised artist broke into the industry as a producer first, under the pseudonym Bigg Kid. He notched a few nice placements, getting to produce for IDK, Masego, Ari Lennox and more.
Now that his foot was in the door, Oliver was able to get his own solo music heard by a lot of people within and without the industry, but ended up inking a deal with Interscope’s Darkroom Records, which also houses Billie Eilish. Stylistically, it feels like a good home from Oliver, an artist that takes pride in his production and in shifting sound. As you can catch from his brand new lead single “Switched Up”, this is pop with some glitch in it. You’re not going to catch center stage power chords or really anything simplistic, his style is a lot more frenetic, in a beautiful way. He lays his impassioned voice on top of that all for “Switched Up”, which you can go ahead and stream below.
